Solving the Potato Famine – Albeit a little late …

Despite the frustration of the weeds taking a hold on the allotment again, I was not deterred. I covered the weeds throughout the allotment with tarpaulin and left them for the winter.

Learning from my mistakes, the ground was then covered with tarpaulin. This keeps the weeds under control over winter and killed the grasses.

Whilst this was happening there were plenty of jobs to be on with. For instance, I put up a second hand shed (with a lot of help from my Dad) that  I had acquired from a friend and set up some shelving  for my seeds to grow (when the weather improved). Continue reading
